1961 International Harvester Metro Van

Metro Van all steel bodies, designed by Raymond Loewy of Studebaker & Coke bottle fame, were built by the Metropolitan Body Company, Bridgeport, CT. International Harvester bought the company in 1948. Production stopped in 1975. Our Metro Van is known as a “Shorty” due to the shorter body design.

Our Metro Van served in the US Air Force in Arizona from 1961 thru 1965 & then released to the public for sale.

* Remanufactured 8 cylinder 350 horsepower Chevy small block engine on the original chassis with an Edelbrock carburetor

* 5 speed transmission from an ’88 Chevy Pickup & a Dana 80 rear end from an ’80 Chevy 3/4 ton truck.

* The brake system is from a ’76 Cadillac Eldorado.

* Seats are from a Mercury Mountaineer.
